Vignettes
What it is:
All the world's a stage, and your organization is no exception. Performance of a Lifetime's vignettes are original plays and video productions, created by top writers from film, television, and theater, and written exclusively for and about your organization. Featuring a cast of Broadway- and West End-trained, business-savvy actors, our vignettes use comedy, drama, mystery and satire to hold a mirror up to your organization and the issues you want to explore. Your people see themselves and their professional concerns reflected onstage or onscreen, illuminated in ways that trigger analysis and discussion as a response, so that the work can begin to address and solve problems.
Why it helps:
Sometimes, the most pressing organizational challenges can be the hardest to see — or talk about. You need a little distance to get the whole picture, and watching your customized vignette gives you just that. You can see what it looks like, feel what it feels like, watch what happens — and what doesn't happen. You're freed up to imagine new possibilities, review new options, and explore different points of view.
How it works:
POAL playwrights and designers work with you to understand and develop the issues, challenges and circumstances underlying your organization's story or stories. We create the scenes that tell your story and consult with you on all aspects of the presentation to fit your needs. We rehearse and hone the show and either perform it live or produce a creative video presentation. Sometimes you simply take it from there. In a live presentation we can help facilitate a dialogue, either as instructors or as the characters from the vignette. Another live option is a "re-writing" exercise, in which we collect input from workshop participants, weave changes into our dialogue, and then perform it for you later in the day so that you can see your work in action.
