IMPROVISING AT THE BEIJING SUMMER OLYMPICS
Performance of a Lifetime trains Olympians and hopefuls in off-the-field excellence
Performance of a Lifetime had the honor of contributing to the United States Olympic Committee’s “Olympic Ambassador” program over the past year. Designed to prepare every US Olympic hopeful to play the roles of ambassador of the United States at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, the program rolled out in five US cities and trained almost 800 elite athletes. Athletes, of course, know something about performing, so POAL tapped into that ability and expanded it to include their performances off the field of play. From interactions with the media to difficult, potentially distracting interactions with teammates and family members, we worked with them to bring the posture and skills of improvisation — focus, listening, flexibility and pride — to all of their Olympic moments.
